A report on opinions of small island countries
toward the sustainability of maritime development

This report researched 23 small-island developing states(SIDS) including Fiji, Vanuatu, Tonga, Samoa, Niue, the Cook Islands, Papua New Guinea on the status quo of marine ecology protection and demand in this regard. It analyzed the countries’ attitude toward and viewpoints on sustainable marine development. By comparing and contrasting foreign aid and cooperation policies by China, Australia and the US etc toward SIDS, the report finally provided suggestions on cooperation between China and SIDS in the areas of reacting to climate change, restoring marine ecology and protecting marine resources.
