On March 17, 2026, a delegation of Swedish diplomats visited the Grandview Institution (GVI). The delegation included Mattias Chu, Political Counsellor at the Swedish Embassy in China; Lina Bunis, Counsellor at the Swedish Embassy in Washington; Ulrica Reuterwall, Counsellor at the Swedish Embassy in Seoul; Gabriel Hjort, First Secretary at the Swedish Embassy in Tokyo; Viktor Sundman, Deputy Head of Mission at the Swedish Embassy in Pyongyang; and Adam Sarac, Second Secretary at the same embassy. They held discussions with members of the Institution’s Academic Committee and Cai Jing, Director of the Department of External Cooperation.

During the seminar, Chinese experts shared their perspectives on the situation in the Asia-Pacific region, key bilateral relations, and issues concerning the Korean Peninsula. They also engaged in in-depth exchanges with the Swedish diplomats on the challenges facing China–Japan relations and possible avenues for communication. The meeting further addressed the impact of the Russia–DPRK strategic partnership on the regional landscape, as well as Europe’s expectations of China in the context of the Ukraine crisis.

The meeting was held as a closed-door seminar, aiming to conduct pragmatic exchanges on regional and international security issues of mutual concern through a Track II dialogue, in order to enhance mutual understanding.
