GVI and UK-Based International Crisis Mediation Organization Inter Mediate Hold Online China–India Expert Dialogue

On the evening of January 27, the Grandview Institution and the UK-based international crisis mediation organization Inter Mediate jointly hosted an online dialogue as part of their China–India dialogue series.

Experts participating in the dialogue included Jayadeva Ranade, former member of India’s National Security Advisory Board and current Director of the Centre for China Analysis and Strategy (CCAS); Lt. Gen. (Ret.) B. S. Raju, former Vice Chief of the Indian Army; Rong Ying, former Vice President of the China Institute of International Studies (CIIS); Shen Dingli, Director of the U.S. Studies Center at the GVI; and Zhou Bo, Senior Fellow at the Center for International Security and Strategy, Tsinghua University. 

Ameya Kilara, Senior Program Director at Inter Mediate, together with Ren Libo, President of the GVI; Cai Jing, Director of the Department of External Cooperation at GVI; and Zhang TingyuI, Project Assistant at GVI, participated in the dialogue as institutional representatives.

The experts engaged in in-depth discussions on the challenges and opportunities facing China–India relations, covering issues such as border crisis management, the international situation, economic and trade cooperation, and collaboration in third-party markets. Participants agreed that greater use should be made of multilateral platforms such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation and BRICS, with a focus on shared interests and pragmatic discussions on risk management and international crisis mediation mechanisms, in order to promote the stable development of bilateral relations. Both sides expressed their intention to continue the dialogue in an offline format in the future.
