Visit by Swedish Special Envoy for Korean Peninsula Affairs Peter Semneby to GVI

On the morning of 10 November 2025, Peter Semneby, Special Envoy for Korean Peninsula Affairs of the Kingdom of Sweden, visited Grandview Institution (GVI) and held a thematic discussion with Ren Libo, Founder & President, GVI, on the situation on the Korean Peninsula.

The discussion focused on the current situation on the peninsula. Both sides assessed obstacles and opportunities for dialogue, examined Sweden’s unique role as a facilitator, and exchanged views on denuclearisation prospects, regional stability risks, and potential pathways for future engagement. The Special Envoy outlined Sweden’s efforts to facilitate communication between the United States and the DPRK, while Chinese scholars provided expert analysis from a regional security perspective.

Sweden’s delegation, including Per-Axel Frielingsdorf, Deputy Head of Mission, Mattias Chu, Political Counsellor, and Siri Sandberg, Second Secretary, accompanied the visit.
