Officials from the Peace Mediation Center of Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs Visit GVI

On the afternoon of March 19th, officials from the Peace Mediation Center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland and the Embassy of Finland in China visited GVI and held a discussion with the representatives of GVI on conflict mediation and Myanmar issues.

The participants agreed that the role of conflict mediation is particularly demanding in the context of the increasing number and intensity of conflicts around the world. At the same time, the challenges and difficulties encountered in peace mediation are increasing. Peace mediation calls for trust, cooperation, and consensus among all parties.

Participants in the meeting from the Finnish side included Katja Ahlfors, Director of the Peace Mediation Center, Olli Ruohomaki, Senior Advisor at the Political Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Anna Savolainen, Counselor at the Political Department of the Embassy of Finland, and Tommi Jämsä, Second Secretary at the Embassy of Finland, while representatives from GVI side were Ren Libo, President, Li Xinyu, Vice President, and Ouyang Wei, Deputy Director of the Academic Committee. Miss Mao Jing, Director of the International Cooperation Department of GVI moderated the discussion.
