GVI Attends the "Sino-Japanese Symposium on Future Creation" and Visits the Nippon Foundations

February 18-19, 2024, a GVI delegation was invited by the Sasakawa Peace Foundation (笹川平和财团; SPF) to attend the "Sino-Japanese Symposium on Future Creation". The delegation also visited the Nippon Foundation and SPF in Tokyo, Japan.

The Sino-Japanese Symposium on Future Creation is an annual series of China-Japan Youth Salon events organized by SPF’s Japan-China Friendship Program, which aims to strengthen cultural exchanges between young people of the two countries and to enhance the consensus between the youth groups through joint learning and direct communication. In November 2023, GVI, together with the Japan-China Friendship Program, hosted the Sino-Japanese Symposium on Future Creation in Beijing. This year the event was kicked off in Tokyo with the theme of "Creating Together, the Future Life". Mr. Itsu Adachi, SPF’s Executive Director, delivered a welcome speech, and Mr. Keisuke Ogata, Director of SPF’s Japan-China Friendship Program chaired the conference. More than 80 university students from China and Japan shared their ideas on the theme earnestly and made group presentations on topics such as the harmonious coexistence of human beings and nature, and the improvement of urban life by AI. Ren Libo, GVI’s Founder and President, Qiu Ming, Dean of the School of Oriental Languages at Zhejiang Yuexiu Institute of Foreign Languages, and Yuichiro Watanabe, Professor of the University of Tokyo, acted as on-site instructors and made comments on the presentations of the students.

During the visit to the Nippon Foundation, GVI’s President Ren Libo informed Takeshi Ogata, Chairman of the Nippon Foundation, of the latest research results of GVI in the areas of Sino-Japanese relations, Sino-U.S. relations, and the situation of the Korean Peninsula, as well as the external exchanges carried out around these research programs. Mr. Ogata introduced the positive role played by the Nippon Foundation and the SPF in Sino-Japanese friendly exchanges since their establishment. He also expressed his willingness to promote a series of Sino-Japanese exchanges among think tanks, scholars, youths, and the private sector in the future, along with GVI.

During the visit to the SPF, GVI’s President Ren Libo, and Itsu Adachi, SPF’s Executive Director, made a review of the Sino-Japanese Symposium on the Future Creation (2023) held in Beijing, both stressing that the two sides would continue to strengthen people-to-people exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and Japanese youths and scholars and carry forward their active and positive role in the friendship between the two countries for generations to come.
