Counselor of Iranian Embassy in China Visits GVI

January 18, 2024, Mr. Reza Pirpiran, Second Counsellor of Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in China visited GVI and had an in-depth discussion with Mr. He An, Secretary General and Director of the Center for South Asian Studies, Han Hongyu, Deputy Director of the Foreign Cooperation Department, and Yang Xiaotong, Head of Research of the Public Affairs Department of GVI, on issues such as the relationship between China and Iran and the future cooperation of the GVI think tank with the Iranian side.

Mr. Pirpiran said, China and Iran are both ancient civilizations with a long history of friendship. In recent years, although the international situation has become increasingly complex and the geopolitical risks continue to escalate, Sino-Iranian relations have not been affected. The two countries’ relations have withstood the test of all kinds of international climates. With the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership announced in 2016, Sino-Iranian relations have entered a new era. However, there is still a long way to go. Iran used to play an important role in the historical Silk Road and now hopes to deepen cooperation with China in all aspects of economy, trade, and culture by taking advantage of the highly complementary economies of the two countries, Iran's rich oil and gas resources, and its favorable geographic location.
