Officials from the Australian Embassy in China Visit GVI

On December 21, 2023, the 51st anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Australia, Darren Kerr, Defense Attaché, Hamish Cameron, Acting Political Counselor, Marie-Alice McLean Dreyfus, First Secretary of the Defense Attaché's Office, Leah Yeak, First Secretary of the Political Office and Wang Xiaoxiao, Senior Research and Program Officer of the Australian Embassy in Beijing visited GVI. They had in-depth exchanges with Ren Libo, Founder and President, He An, Secretary General, Liu Xiaobo, Director of Center for Maritime Studies, and Zhu Junwei, Director of Center for U.S. Studies of GVI on topics such as China-Australia relations, China-U.S. relations, the U.S.-Britain-Australia Trilateral Security Partnership (AUKUS), and South China Sea issue, among others.

GVI President Ren Libo shared with the Australian guests the 10-years development of GVI as an independent think tank. Counselor Hamish Cameron said that Australia attaches importance to the voice of Chinese civil society and looks forward to deepening the dialogue and exchange with GVI.

Fifty-one years ago, on December 21, 1972, in Paris, China and Australia signed the Joint Communiqué of the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of Australia on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Australia and China.
