Delegation of Martti-Ahtisaari Peace Foundation - CMI holds a peace mediation seminar with GVI representatives

On the morning of November 14, 2023, Janne Taalas, CEO, Ville Brummer, Chief Program Officer, and Oskari Eronen, head of Asia, Crisis Management Initiative (CMI)-Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation, met with Ren Libo, president, Li Xinyu, vice president, Zhang Xiaoming, member of Academic Committee, and He An, secretary general of GVI. Both sides had an in-depth exchange of views on regional hotspots and prospects for peace mediation.

 

Members of the CMI delegation elaborated on the organization's role in resolving a number of serious and long-standing conflicts in various parts of the world and explored the opportunities and prospects for peace mediation in terms of the circumstances in which the conflicts occur, the changes inherent in the conflicts, the potential mediating parties, and the agenda-setting of the mediation.

 

Following the visit on November 13, the CMI delegation will continue to conduct a week-long exchange and dialogue with the relevant experts and scholars of GVI.

 

The Finnish Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation- CMI is a conflict mediation organization founded by the former President of Finland, aiming at preventing and resolving violent conflicts through nongovernmental talk and mediation.
