On August 1st 2018, Grandview Institute built up an expert team to Hekou District in Dongying City, Shandong Province to conduct a series of research activities to discuss the construction of a strong marine area in the Hekou District.
The expert team inspected the Hekou Economic Development Zone, the coastal town street, the Blue Economic Industrial Park, the Yellow River estuary and other areas, focusing, in order to understand the development of the sea-related industries and enterprises, and the integration of military and civil, ecological culture and so forth. The expert group pointed out that the Hekou District is rich in natural resources, but the current resource development model is inefficient model, which needs to be transformed into a high-quality development model. Experts suggested that strive to develop promoting the capitalization of marine resources, introducing strategic investment enterprises and focusing on development of cultural tourism resources around the Yellow River estuary.
The expert team consists of researchers from the National Development and Reform Commission, the National Ocean Information Center, the National Ocean Technology Center, Xiamen University, and Grandview Institute. Tian Bingbing, Hekou District Mayor presided over the symposium on the construction of the region's marine strong areas, and conducted a special discussion with the Grandview Institute’s expert team.
Relevant departments and towns in the Hekou District introduced existing development ideas and plans, as well as core projects that are being implemented and will be implemented in the relevant marine-related industries, management enterprises and industrial parks. The Marine Fisheries Bureau of Hekou District introduced the development of marine and fishery in the whole district. It is proposed that the ’Port and District’ will be the industrial direction in the future, with brand building as the focus, and marine pasture construction as the innovation field to develop the marine industry.
